Anna is from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. She got her MA degree in International Relations at the State University of Nizhny Novgorod where she defended her thesis with honors on the Informational War between US and Russia.
In 2010, Anna came to the US to study foreign languages at the University of New Mexico. During her studies at UNM, she has been awarded several scholarships to study Spanish in Ecuador and Mandarin Chinese in China. Now, Anna is pursuing a PhD degree at the College of Education and is enrolled in the program of Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Studies.
Her main interests are second language acquisition in foreign language classrooms and second culture acquisition through teachers' identities. She is passionate about teaching her native language and sharing Russian culture with students. At UNM Anna teaches Introductory Russian RUSS 101 and RUSS 102. She is also leading the UNM Russian club, Kamchatka, which gathers students who are interested in Russian culture and language.
